Can We Live A Holy Life?

We need to teach both sanctification and righteousness by faith in Jesus.  Actually, there are not two separate things but belong together. We can never be holy, live right in our own power and we can´t fight against sin in our own ability. I tried this many years ago and it does not work and it is not the Bible's way to live right and holy either. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit it is easy to be free from sin and walk in sanctification. We need to live in repentance and have the fear of God (when you have the fear of God you are not afraid of God but you want to live close to Him and you want to please and obey Him because you love Him).

Titus 3: 6-7: " which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that, being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”  Rom 6:11: " In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

We need the Word of God and the Spirit of Life. A preacher said: ”If you only have the Word you dry up and if you only have the Spirit you fly away, but if you have both you grow up.” When we teach of holiness, we first need to give out the milk from the Word of God and the love of God. We are saved by grace and righteous by faith and not throu our own good deeds but we need to turn from sin if we live in sin as believers and we need to receive the fruit of the Spirit and the fruit of righteousness. You can´t just confess like a parrot that you are righteous by faith for years and not have a fruit of it. You can´t live in sin like a pig and just confess like a parrot that you are saved by grace. If you do like that you are just playing….We shall have the love of God and mercy to people who are weak, but it is something wrong if you want to live in sin and love it....

It was a time in my life when I was weak and stuck in sin but I got free and it was the love of God, but also the fear of God that helped me. I also saw hell as a final destination if I had continue just to live in my sins. God's love also warns, God's love is wonderful, but if the wonderful side does not help we need to see the hell in front of us if we never leave the sins because we can´t live in sin and enjoy a life in sin and still believe that we are going to heaven because of Gods grace. That is not amazing grace, that is crazy grace if we believe we can live like that.

The Lord sees our hearts, He see if we wants to be free and not play as Christians. When we confess our sins and wants to leave them Jesus sets us free throu His blood. We need the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to be free and of course the fear of God. God's grace gives us power to say no to what is wrong. You can read about it in: Tit 2: 11-12: "For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,"

If we are stuck in sin and bound by the devil than other believers need to pray for us and set us free. Jesus said to the woman in John 8:11: "Nor do I judge you, go and sin no more.". We need to understand that the last part of this verse also is important: ”go and sin no more”.

Maybe someone said to you who serve the Lord: "There are enormous temptations out there." Does the Bible say the same thing? I had never read it. Of course, temptations may come… Peter and I traveled in mission for the Lord, but when we are focused on the mission, we are not focused on temptations. Of course we need the protection from the Lord. Peter and I have been to Majorca where we had a lovely holiday but we also gave out the gospel there. It is like Sodom and Gomorrah in Majorca. Peolpe drink a lot of alcohol there (tourists), not only young people but also old people. It's hot and sunny and some women are for exemple topless. The people need to be saved, that shall be our focus. Jesus loves the people and you don´t have to be tempted. I heard about some missionaries who went to a city where everyone was naked (I think it was in Africa).  They saw the need of salvation for the people and preached the gospel and people got saved. It was a great joy in that city. We can focus on the mission and not on temptations.

It was a woman who asked me how to look at the opposite sex. I said that younger men we can see as brothers and elderly as fathers. And, for example, if you have a biological brother who is handsome, how do you look at him? Just like a brother ofcourse... For example, I have a handsome biological brother and my husband Peter has a beautiful little sister, how do we look at them? Just like our beloved brother and sister. That's how we shall look at the opposite sex. The saved men and women are our beloved brothers and sisters in the Lord, and the unsaved are like the unsaved brothers and sisters.

The only person you don´t see just as your brother or sister is the person you are married to. If you are not married and want to be, God can lead you to someone who is the right person for you and then you fall in love. To fall in love is from God. Be blessed from Anette.
